It’s one of the perks of buying new: Your new product comes with a warranty. It’s expected on any major purchase today. After all, the last thing you want with a new purchase is to have to put money into it immediately.

Hot tubs and swim spas are no different. “What is Hydropool’s warranty on hot tubs?” is one of the most common questions we are asked, at both our retailers and through our website.

We want to be transparent, so in this article, we’re going to break down everything you need to know about Hydropool’s warranty on its hot tubs and swim spas as of 2024.

  • The main elements of what it covers: the hot tub and swim spa shell, interior surface, equipment and plumbing, Hydropool’s One-Year Limited Guarantee.
  • How to use your warranty, should something go wrong with your hot tub.

We hope that you never have to use our warranty, but at the same time, we know everyone deserves peace of mind when making a major purchase. That’s why we put in a warranty in the first place!

A Guide to Hydropool’s Hot Tub and Swim Spa Warranty: Shell

If you ask a retailer about warranty on the shell, he or she will say, “10 years.” And they are right. Here’s the specific wording, on what is officially a 10-year limited warranty (a limited warranty restricts the warranty to specific parts, certain types of defects, or has other limitations, which in this case are outlined below):

The shell refers to the fiberglass structure of your hot tub or swim spa and guarantees the fiberglass against cracking or failure due to workmanship or materials for a period of 10 years from the original retail purchase date.

This guarantee does not apply to damage caused by freezing, mishandling of the hot tub or swim spa, improper supports, or any other action or product that in the opinion of Hydropool or our retailers caused or contributed to the failure. Hydropool will have the option of repair or replacement. The hot tub or swim spa owner is responsible for any cost of accessing, disassembly, or re-assembly required.

Hydropool’s Hot Tub and Swim Spa Warranty: Interior Surface

The hot tub or swim spa interior, which is often referred to as the “acrylic,” has a five-year limited warranty at Hydropool.

Here is the detailed explanation:

This refers to the interior acrylic surface and specifically relates to protection against blistering, delamination or cracking for a period of 5 years from the original retail purchase date.

This guarantee does not apply to interior surface damage caused by irregular impact, freezing, poor chemical maintenance, the use of non-approved equipment or accessories, or any other action or product that in the opinion or Hydropool or our retailers caused or contributed to the failure. Hydropool will have the option of repair or replacement. The hot tub or swim spa owner is responsible for any cost of accessing, disassembly, or re-assembly required.

Hydropool’s Warranty: Equipment and Plumbing

Hydropool has a three-year limited warranty on all of its equipment and plumbing.

This refers to the plumbing, jets, valves and fittings, support package (pump, motor, and spa pack).

These components are guaranteed for a period of 3 years from the original retail purchase date to be free from defects caused by poor workmanship or materials. The guarantee is exempt from failure or deterioration of the product as a result of improper hook-up, freezing, improper care, improper water chemistry, or any other factor that in the opinion of Hydropool or our retailers caused or contributed to the failure.

Hydropool Warranty: Limited Guarantee

Hydropool’s one-year limited guarantee covers the remaining elements of the swim spa or hot tub and includes the following:

This refers to the cycle massage, the ozonator, bubbler, pure water system, cabinets and accessories, pump seals, fuses, brominator, O-rings, insulating hard cover, pillows, lids, all audio/ visual components and remote controls.

These are guaranteed for a period of 1 year, parts and labor. Jet inserts, pillows, brominators, O-Rings and lids replaced during the term of the guarantee shall be by over-the counter-exchange only and do not qualify for labor reimbursement. Hydropool shall not assume responsibility for damage or consequential losses as a result of any other equipment connected to Hydropool factory systems. This includes, but is not limited to audio/video devices, external heaters, and/or other electronic devices, cover lifters, etc.

How to Use Your Hydropool Warranty

For customers, there are two crucial parts to warranties:

  • Any warranty must offer coverage of major components of your hot tub or swim spa.
  • The second part isn’t always as apparent: You will want to ensure that whichever company you buy from is able to service your hot tub or swim spa so that the warranty will be supported throughout its duration. That is best accomplished by buying from an established retailer, who offers service and has for years, as opposed to buying from various “expos” that may come through your location.

Why do we suggest using an established retailer when you buy? Again, just like in having a warranty, it’s for peace of mind that someone will help you should you run into problems. But don’t take our advice: This except below is from a story in Wirecutter, a review website owned by the New York Times:

We strongly recommend working with a local, specialized hot tub dealership, rather than ordering a hot tub from one of the major retailers that carry them (Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Costco among them). You’ll have more options and more salespeople who can walk you through them. You’ll get advice on the site prep you need, as well as manufacturer specifications that contractors can use to ensure a safe setup. And your hot tub will be installed and hooked up by the dealership. The big-box stores simply drop the hot tub at the curb, and then it’s up to you to figure out how to get it into your backyard or onto your deck.

We agree with that article. We think a retailer will help you with any warranty claim or issue you have. Anyone who buys a Hydropool hot tub can contact the retailer who sold it to them to arrange a service call. This is typically discussed when discussing final delivery, but you are free to ask warranty questions at any time during the sales process, of course.

Where are Hydropool Hot Tubs and Swim Spas Assembled?

All of our hot tubs and swim spas are manufactured in Mississauga, Ontario, at our corporate headquarters and tested extensively before being shipped. It’s why we say our hot tubs are built in Canada, to handle Canadian winters – because they are.
