Did you know, every day, 640 Canadians are diagnosed with diabetes? That is one person every 3 minutes. And unfortunately, that rate is not slowing down.
Diabetes can be stigmatizing. That's why, this June, Connor/Carmen both Hydropool Employees are proud to share that they will proudly be walking the runway in the Diabetes Canada Pump Couture Fashion Show. Pump Couture is an evening dedicated to changing the conversation around the stigma of living with diabetes while staying fiercely fashionable! Through models like Connor/Carmen, and their story, Pump Couture will bring visibility to an often invisible disease.
In addition to modelling at this event, Connor/Carmen are raising funds for Diabetes Canada’s D-Camps programs. D-Camps are 24/7 medically-supervised summer camps for kids living with type 1 diabetes. They foster inclusion and create a sense of belonging for all campers. Activities include archery, arts and crafts, plus canoeing and kayaking. The kids not only have fun and make lasting friendships, but campers also gain self-confidence and the skills to effectively manage their diabetes.
