Can I Use a Hot Tub Every Day? Your COMPLETE Guide to Daily Usage

Hydropool Hot Tubs and Swim Spas

When shopping for hot tubs, many people will ask their dealers “Can I use a hot tub every day?” The short answer is that yes, it is safe to use your hot tub every day. There’s a little more maintenance involved than what most people to do if you become a daily user, but it’s entirely possible (and even easy, really). In this article, we’ll explain in full what’s involved.

Another question to ask could actually be, “Will I use my hot tub every day?” This is a key question for many buyers, the idea “will I actually use it or not?” No one wants to buy a hot tub and have it turn into just another thing in your backyard (like a workout station that becomes a clothing rack).

Your dealer or the research that you have gathered from comparing hot tub models and features will not be able to answer this question for you. Instead, you need to evaluate your lifestyle and priorities to figure out realistically how often you or will family will take a soak in your hot tub.

You may have friends or family that own a hot tub and use it every day or know others that gradually began to use their hot tub less as the years went by, keeping it for when the kids come over. People are different, and how everyone uses their hot tubs will be different.

For the most part, surveys done by hot tub dealers and manufacturers indicate that most hot tub owners end up using their hot tub more than they expected pre-purchase. Basically, there’s a bit of work getting into a hot tub – we know this after selling them for more than 40 years at Hydropool – but once you get one, they make their own friends, let’s say.

Keep reading below to find out how to determine how likely you are to use your hot tub every day!

Will You Use Your Hot Tub Every Day?

The most important question to ask yourself right off the bat is what type of investment do you view a hot tub as?

  • Is it an investment for your health or for entertainment purposes?
  • If you are committed to using it for your overall wellbeing, allocating 15 minutes per day to soak in your hot tub will more easily become part of your routine.

If you have health conditions or chronic pain, it is likely that you are interested in buying a hot tub for its therapeutic benefits (note: We are not medical experts at Hydropool and any discussion about using a hot tub for medical reasons should involve you and your doctor).

People that want to naturally soothe sore muscles or joint pain will often use their hot tub each and every day. For people looking for it as a stress reliever or who want better sleep, they also have motivation to try a hot tub before bed.

People using a hot tub for recreational reasons do also find time to use it every day. Many people make it a habit to have coffee in their hot tub each morning, or a soak immediately after work. Making the hot tub “ritual” part of your regular life is one of the great options you have available once you own a hot tub.

Can You Make it Easier to Use Your Hot Tub Every Day?

For those that can’t wait to enjoy a daily hot tub soak, there are a few things that you can do to help make your routine easier to commit to.

  • For starters, the quality of the hot tub you buy will have a lot to do with your overall enjoyment. If you choose a low-end model with limited massage features or that is difficult to clean, it can be easy to quickly lose interest in soaking or become frustrated with the amount of maintenance involved.
  • On the flip side, a quality made hot tub with plenty of customizable hydrotherapy massage options and self-cleaning technology can be enjoyed at a moment’s notice and target a wide range of sore muscles and health conditions.
  • Another important factor is the location of your hot tub. If your outdoor hot tub is located quite far from your home’s entrance, you may be hesitant to make the trek on a cold winter day. Close proximity to your home as well as proper covering from wind, sun or even nosey neighbors can help ensure that your hot tub can be enjoyed in any type of weather or any time of the day.

Is Using a Hot Tub Every Day a Lot?

Daily usage is considered “heavy” usage. Most people routinely use their hot tub two to three times a week.

Does My Maintenance Routine Change if I Use My Hot Tub Every Day?

This will depend on the type of hot tub you buy. If you buy a “normal” hot tub with standard cleaning features, you may need to be checking on your hot tub water quality every couple of days to make sure it holds up (a “normal” hot tub sold by Hydropool would include its Serenity line, we consider all other brands of hot tubs to be in the “normal category for maintenance).

In general, weekly hot tub maintenance is about 35 to 40 minutes for most hot tubs, including rinsing the filter weekly and checking the water balances. In Hydropool’s Signature line takes less than that (We don’t usually flag our own products in these blogs this way, but Hydropool’s self-cleaning technology on its Signature line of hot tubs would benefit anyone looking to use a hot tub daily).

Instead of checking your hot tub water once a week, we’d recommend checking it twice a week if you’re planning on using it each day.

Will I Use My Hot Tub Every Day?

That is going to be up to you, but without question many people do. Some people use it for wellness benefits, others use it for fun, but thousands of people around the world are daily hot tub users, we can assure you!

Whether you are guided by wellness or guided by the desire to enjoy your hot tub on its own merits, making time for your hot tub each day is entirely possible. People use hot tubs at night, during the day, have their morning coffee in them: Making a hot tub a routine is entirely normal (even typical) among most hot tub owners.

And that doesn’t account for all the times friends and family will want to use it, which you should factor in as well.
